Shifting Gears

Lord, I have terrible titles, don't I? But it works.

See, with 'The Jester Prince' coming next Wednesday, and the third book just waiting for a single editing pass before I send it in to Prizm Books, I feel like playing somewhere else. I've been in the circus for a long time and I loved every second of it. But now... it's just time for a change.

I have a few projects still to be worked on, of course. My book about marionettes. My air pirate adventure novella. My big sci-fi series. And some smaller things, of course. Shorts and such. But lately, I've been bombarded with new ideas. Not all of them will turn out to be viable in the near future, but I'm confident that all of them can be placed, when the time comes.

I'll be sad to see the circus go, and I won't see it again, other than my final edits, until close to when book three comes out. Do I think it will be my last circus book? Well, I just have an answer for that one. It could be. Or not. I don't even know if it's going to be the last time I play in that world, yet. It's all up in the air.

What I have are possibilities. And those are good things to have.

Stolen: The Next Big Thing

Since I did kind of steal it from her blog, I figure I owe Jaleta Clegg at least a link.

How does it go? I answer ten questions about my current WIP (otherwise known as procrastinating) and you suffer through reading them (or skim them and run away. Your choice.).

1. What's the working title of your book? Knightshade
2. Where did the idea for your book come from? I was watching anime, and it got me thinking about a certain aspect of a certain anime (I'm doing my best not to say the name.). Eventually, I arrived at a world where I would have an order of knights with magical weapons and greater skill than average fighters. Then I had to make a world and story to fit that.
3. What genre does your book fall under? I'm going to say high fantasy.
4. Which actors would you choose to portray your characters in a movie? The only one I've put any thought into is Erykah Badu. But I think she's too short (if you can believe that).
5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? In the fight for his freedom, a hunter must face the price for that freedom.
6. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? I don't know, but I'd like it to go through a house (without an agent).
7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Twenty-three days.
8. What other book would you compare this story to within your genre? I try not to do that. At least not until the book is finished.
9. Who or what inspired you to write this book? The idea was worth writing.
10. What else about your book might pique reader interest? Well, it's a young adult story with a gay main character. I'd like to think that's somewhat original. I hope.

NaNoWriMo Day Two

Yes, it's really here--we've reached the second day of NaNo, the day that more or less fades into the background of memory--but day one is purely awesome, as any real Nanite would know. It starts with the way too late/way too early jitters, and you end up waking at 5 in the morning, realize that NaNo is upon us, and grab your laptop to get a headstart on all of your rivals...I mean, friends...

Then you pull 7,000 words in a day, followed by an immediate colapse onto the nearest soft and/or semi-comfortable thing, person, or animal. Or something similar to that, at least. At any rate, it's a day of pure, awesome inspiration and explosive writing raising up from the depths of hell: personally, I think that the spirits that come up on the thirty-first energize the air and that's what causes it...but you don't need my scientific mumbo-jumbo...

In short--it is NaNoWriMo, and someone (who shall remain nameless (ME) ) is far higher on his word-count than he probably should be.

A Twitching Little Bug

In case I totally disappear and never post again, I'll tell you what happened.

I probably curled up on the floor and am now nothing more than a twitching bug.

Why?
